      POSTDOC POSITION

Rewiring plant defence signalling networks
Biosciences, University of Exeter, Exeter, UK

A Leverhulme Trust funded Research Fellowship in the area of molecular
plant pathology is available immediately for 2.5 years. The project will use
synthetic biology approaches and a systems level understanding of plantmicrobe
interactions to intervene and nullify pathogen virulence strategies.
The project will focus on rewiring plant hormone defence networks using an
existing collection of effector induced plant promoters which provide specific
spatial, temporal and scalable control to drive expression of re-engineered
components of plant hormone response pathways. Golden Gate cloning will
be used to combinatorially rewire these promoters to specific components of
ABA, JA and SA pathways that have been re-designed to modify signalling
function.
The position is in the laboratory of Prof. Murray Grant based in Biosciences at
the University of Exeter campus in Streatham. It is available from 1st April
2014. Experience in plant molecular biology is essential and previous
experience of plant pathology and bioinformatics would be a distinct
advantage.
